This development consists of eight detached houses, seven three-storey and one two-storey. Timber frame construction started on site in August 2024 and the entire project was completed in 10 weeks.

We used a factory-insulated panel for the construction, achieving an exceptional u-value of 0.17 W/m2K. We used 254mm metal web joists with 22mm chipboard flooring and the roof design incorporated loose rafters supported by a steel ridge beam.

Each plot boasts an area of 140m sq., each house taking approximately 5-7 days to complete.

We supplied and installed the bespoke timber frame for this self-build project in October 2023.

The upstairs to this detached house is vaulted throughout, with a large, glazed opening at one end set back from the overhanging roof. It features a gym, library and three bedrooms.

Our factory-insulated external wall with VCL and service batten provides a 0.15 U-value.

Phase three of a 42-unit residential development in Essex for an existing client began in December 2023.

With only four house types and a proactive main contractor, this site is ideally suited to timber frame construction.

There was no wasted time between trades, with the roofers making the plots watertight within days of timber frame completion.

All panels are factory-insulated according to the latest building regulations.

This detached house in Ongar, Essex, is a reasonably modest design from the outside. However, the specs and scale are far from modest with a gross floor area of 320 sq. m.

As our client is aiming for passive performance on this project, we designed, supplied, and installed our highest-performing factory-insulated panel. We boosted the thermal performance by fitting an additional layer of 70mm of insulation internally, providing an impressive u-value of 0.11 W/m2K.

We also designed the joists around the MVHR system and installed an airtight membrane at the floor junctions.

We look forward to re-visiting once complete to see the result of the all-important air test!

The vaulted ceiling makes this tiny detached house look much bigger than it actually is.

Squeezed between two existing plots in the heart of Cambridge access was very limited, but we successfully got our hi-ab lorry set up to install the timber frame.

Despite the small size, our client opted for a highly insulated panel, and we added 40mm of insulation internally to achieve a 0.12 u-value.

It was a joy to work on this project.

In September 2023, we installed this small yet spacious chalet-style bungalow in Kirkby-Le-Stoke, Essex.

The open plan layout downstairs maximises the perception of space, making it appear much larger than the actual footprint.

It features one bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms in the roof space, which were created by using attic trusses.

The attached garage provides some valuable storage space.

This low-energy, timber-framed home in Wimbledon Village, London, was built in October 2022 and was of a very high specification. It featured exposed glulam beams, open living spaces, and high ceilings.

For this project, the client also specified rock wool insulation between the studs, focusing on airtightness at all the critical junctions.

We collaborated with the Erbar Mattes Architects, the engineer, and the main contractor to deliver this impressive timber frame structure.

This traditional style 5-bed timber-frame detached house set across three floors features a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area to the rear with a separate lounge to the front of the property.

There are 4 bedrooms on the first-floor level, with a spacious master bedroom and en-suite on the second floor.

UK Structures supplied and installed a factory insulated kit, including the VCL and service batten, to achieve a U-Value of 0.15 W/m2K, metal web floor joists and attic trusses.

Built in February 2022, this 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom detached property is a modern design utilising the flexibility and performance of timber frame construction.

This property features metal web joists, 140mm structural stud (factory insulated) and a hand-cut vaulted roof. Several steel beams were required for this project to achieve the open spaces, all designed, supplied and installed by UK Structures.

Completed in January 2023, this simple but very spacious timber frame design benefits from 4 large bedrooms, 2 en-suites, large open-plan living, kitchen & dining area, a study and utility room.

The self-build clients on this project were an absolute dream to work with, quickly grasping the benefits of timber frame construction. A week after we finished on site, the windows were in, and the roofer had made a start providing them with a water-tight shell within 4 weeks of us starting on site with the soleplates.
